Days 39 thru 46 Monday June 7 thru June 13, 2010
Still working with the biting issue. She is tearing me up and the more I correct she seems to just get angry and comes at me harder. My arms and hands are torn up.
Other corrections are going fairly well. When she does get corrected, every few minutes, she responds well. I have been concentrating on a more positive reaction where she gets praised quickly as soon as she obeys the correction.
Also when we go to the back door to go out I make her sit and make sure I exit first. This is helping with establishing the order in the pack.
Certain times of night she gets kinda cranky and starts the biting more frequently. Although I said I would not use the crate as punishment she has to be isolated or she will continue to bite with those sharp teeth. Also it gives my patience a rest as those teeth hurt like heck and I do not want to correct in anger.
All in all a good week. I am getting tired of the biting but I do feel we’ve made good headway in correcting some bad behavior. You have to stay at it.
