September 6 thru September 12
This week was pretty much the same on the training as last week. Ellie is getting better, still it is taking time. I think patience is probably the number one skill to have when training a dog. It takes repetition and consistency when dealing with a puppy. Ellie is doing well with the jumping as we stop and I ignore her until the focus of attention is directed somewhere else.
In addition I started trying to tackle the pulling while on lead. Although only 50 pounds she pulls like a mule. So every time she starts to pull I am stopping until she slacks on the lead and then we go. Again she is catching on quickly but we will see.
We found out this week that our next pup was born. We found a bitch in the same bloodline as our last cream Labrador Glenda. We had actually contacted this breeder before contacting the CD Kennels where we got Ellie. We will have a new male yellow or possibly cream by November of this year.
Ellie is still going through the zoomies and I have been able to catch her. Calming her down is easier as long as I stay calm and patient.
