In the past I have simply put a blanket over the dog crate at night when the pup sleeps but I decided since our house is small and the crate sits out in the living room I would look for dog crate covers just to tidy things up a little bit. Well as usually I was blown away at the work that some folks put into creating these covers. A quick search on the internet revealed some beautifully done ones and some functional ones as well.
Fashion Dog Crate Covers
There was the gathered dog crate covers with tiebacks made out of very nice materials in different colors. The gathered dog crate covers have drape like door coverings that pulled back and hooked on the side. They have colors such as espresso and chocolate twill. Fine products with the designer in mind and as you would know it some were by Ralph Lauren.
There was a stagecoach dog crate covers that the door cover rolls up neatly and hooks at top. There are some made for crates like we have that have two doors and the door panels rolled up so the rest of the crate can remain covered. Of course you can get matching bed or pad covers made with the same materials. Very nicely designed and they did have some that were plain colors. Pretty expensive starting are around 130 dollars for extra small and around 200 for the size of crate we have. That’s Ruff!
I found some that were similar in design to the stagecoach in different materials that were a little less expensive. I even ran across a holiday crate cover in the spirit of Christmas. The crate looked like a big, red wrapped gift.
There are wooden ones that are called dog crate covers but they only cover the top of the crate and turn it into a table. Still fairly expensive and given my choice I would just buy the crates that are designed to be an end table.
Functional Dog Crate Covers
For the sportsman there is the insulated dog crate cover or kennel jacket. Some of these have pockets on the side for food and gear and come in solid or camouflaged. They are insulated for crates that ride in the back of pickup trucks for hunters. They are water resistant, well designed and functional.
I would still wind up paying about 150 for one for the large crate we have. These are beautiful and if you have a grand designer house why not. My girl will have to settle for a plain one around this price range but check them out they are very nice, especially the designer dog crate covers. If you are a hunter the insulated ones are essential for you hunting partner.
